The Purpose of Church Choir
The church’s choir is not just a group of people merely standing before the congregation, leading the people to sing songs of praises and worship to the Lord God the Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ. The true power of choir lies when the people witnessed the works of the Only Living God aligning with the truth and the promises of God found in the Holy Bible and thus, proclaiming His grace, mercy and power, which endures forever and ever with His people. Signing in such strong conviction of proclamation not only changes lives, but changes history!
History Tells It All
There was once in the history of Judah during the reign of King Jehoshaphat. Judah was about to be totally annihilated by the neighboring adversaries (Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir), locked in a fierce battle taunt, King Jehoshaphat and his people came and inquire of the Lord <2 Chronicles 20>. The Spirit of the Lord spoke to them through the prophet Jahaziel:
Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them… You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.
After heeding to the word of God, the king then – appointed those who should SING to the Lord, and who should PRAISE the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:
"Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever."
Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah.
Before the battle even started, the God caused the adversaries of Judah to kill one another and all of the enemies of Judah ended in piles of dead bodies, not needing King Jehoshaphat and his army to step out and intercept the enemies.
